Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate.
Update patient information.
Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all physicians' orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
Package specimens for transport.
Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow specific procedures for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Phlebotomist.
Proficient in using straight and butterfly needles, and handling color tubes.
At least 2 years of experience with blood draws and venipunctures.
