The Orthodontic Assistant is responsible for assisting in orthodontic procedures, coordinating patient care, and preparing treatment areas.
This role involves supporting orthodontic and surgical treatment plans, setting up and managing dental appliances, and ensuring patient safety and quality care in alignment with hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare patient rooms, verify medications and allergies, and document information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Conduct orthodontic procedures, such as placing surgical hooks and wires, fitting and removing fixed appliances, and coordinating pre- and post-operative care.
Provide detailed patient assessments, including gathering patient history, taking 2D and 3D X-rays, and updating charts.
Educate patients and families on pre- and post-treatment care and provide support for patients with complex needs.
Perform general office duties, such as maintaining equipment, updating schedules, managing inventory, and completing lab documentation.
Adhere to patient safety, infection control guidelines, and hospital certification requirements.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in using the Windows operating system.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with diverse patient populations, including pediatric patients with special needs.
