The Registered Nurse - Ambulatory provides high-quality nursing care through telephone triage, patient education, and coordination of care.
This role involves managing callbacks for sick or urgent concerns, collaborating with healthcare providers, and ensuring effective patient outcomes.
The position requires strong communication, time-management skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform patient callbacks for acute and urgent concerns as part of the TriCounty Triage Nurse Pool.
Triage patients over the phone for conditions such as URIs, rashes, GI issues, UTIs, orthopedic concerns, and more.
Provide comprehensive patient education tailored to individual needs.
Schedule same-day surgery visits or refer patients to urgent care or emergency departments as appropriate.
Collaborate with providers and healthcare team members to optimize patient care outcomes.
Effectively navigate electronic health records (EHR) while communicating with patients.
Handle an average of 40-60 patient callbacks per day with a focus on quality and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association required).
Minimum of 1 year of experience in phone triage nursing.
Strong time-management and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Experience managing a high volume of patient interactions in a clinical setting.
Empathy and flexibility in handling diverse patient concerns.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
