The Registered Nurse - Psychiatric provides compassionate care to patients in an acute psychiatric setting.
This role involves delivering high-quality nursing care, maintaining patient safety, and supporting patients with various psychiatric needs in a General Population (Adult Psych/BHH) environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide patient care in an acute psychiatric setting with a patient ratio of 1:5-6, subject to fluctuations based on census and staffing.
Administer medications, monitor patient progress, and assess mental and physical health.
Respond to emergency situations and de-escalate crises as needed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with facility protocols and industry standards, including safety measures.
Participate in bi-weekly orientation sessions to stay updated on best practices and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Valid West Virginia or compact state nursing license.
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certifications.
At least 2 years of experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong ability to adapt to fluctuating patient ratios and staffing needs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interaction.
Certifications
BLS, ACLS, and CPI certifications (current and valid).
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) , Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) , Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
