The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room is responsible for providing patient care to a primarily geriatric population. This role involves utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to ensure quality patient care. The nurse will direct and guide patient teaching and oversee the activities of ancillary personnel while upholding professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality patient care to individuals, primarily from the geriatric population, in the Emergency Room.
Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
Provide education and guidance to patients and their families regarding care, treatment options, and health promotion.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
Supervise and direct the activities of ancillary personnel (e.g., nursing assistants, clerks) as needed.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and professional nursing standards.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with legal and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least 1 year in the Emergency Department (preferred).
Experience in critical care (preferred).
Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality care to geriatric patients.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Critical care experience preferred, particularly in an emergency department setting.
Previous experience with geriatric patient care.
Certifications:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts (MA).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required.
