Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting physicians during patient examinations and treatments. This position involves various clinical and administrative duties, including recording patient information, preparing treatment rooms, and assisting with laboratory tests. The Medical Assistant ensures smooth patient care operations and contributes to the overall efficiency of the medical practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care Support: Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Vital Signs & Patient History: Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and record or input the information into the patient's medical record.
- Room Preparation: Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Blood Draws & Specimen Handling: Draw and collect blood samples from patients, preparing specimens for laboratory analysis as required.
- Administrative Support: Update patient records, schedule appointments, and manage patient flow in the clinic.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow proper medical protocols and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Medical Assistant certification (state-required).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare teams effectively.
Preferred Qualifications (if any):
- Experience in a specialty practice (e.g., pediatrics, dermatology, etc.).
Certifications (if any):
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification as required by the state.
