The Radiographer will perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures under the direction of the Radiology Manager and Diagnostic Team Leader. The role requires technical expertise and competency to operate radiographic equipment, ensuring optimal imaging for diagnosis. The Radiographer will also be responsible for radiation safety, patient care, and maintaining departmental procedures and policies.
Schedule:
Wednesday to Friday: 8-hour shifts (starting between 4:00 AM and 9:30 AM)
Saturday: 12-hour shift (either 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and assist in a variety of general diagnostic procedures to produce high-quality images in accordance with department policies.
Follow procedure manuals for routine diagnostic exams, including patient positioning, care, and documentation.
Ensure the safe and optimal use of imaging equipment, adjusting technical factors as necessary for diagnostic imaging.
Provide radiation safety during imaging procedures to protect patients, hospital personnel, and the general public.
Orient and train Radiology students and new staff.
Maintain patient care and provide attention to patients throughout imaging procedures.
Identify, process, transfer, and archive patient exams in line with hospital and regulatory policies.
Maintain accurate records of patient examinations and ensure proper patient identification on all records and images.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient information confidentiality.
Maintain and secure the integrity of the Radiology Information System and all related computer systems.
Follow federal and state radiation safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with safety standards such as collimation and shielding.
Wear a dosimeter badge while working in the imaging department and document Dose Area Product (DAP).
Participate in ongoing education and training as required for professional development and compliance.
Provide radiation protection in accordance with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
Assist with call coverage during holidays and maintain required continuing education credits.
Promote professionalism, continuing education, and staff development.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED; Technical Diploma from a Radiology Program.
Certification:
Radiology Technologist (RT) certification from the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued through an organization that requires instructor-led psychomotor skills verification (e.g., American Heart Association or Red Cross).
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of radiologic experience required.
Pediatric experience required.
EPIC system experience required.
Siemens imaging equipment experience required.
Skills:
Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic imaging techniques and systems.
Proficient in Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
Ability to promote family-centered care and age-specific considerations in patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional certifications or specialized training in advanced imaging techniques are a plus.
Certifications:
Required to obtain 12 continuing education (CE) credits annually for ARRT compliance, including 6 CE credits offered through the hospital’s Radiology Initiatives.
Complete mandatory education and training as required by the hospital and Radiology Department.
