Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU) team at St. Vincent Indianapolis. Our nurses provide care to highly acute cardiac patients in a fast-paced, supportive, and collaborative environment. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to expand your expertise while working with a diverse and complex patient population. This is a rewarding role within a Joint Commission Certified Advanced Heart Failure unit, allowing you to advance your clinical knowledge in a specialized and mentoring environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to patients with advanced cardiac conditions in the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU).
- Monitor and assess patients with congestive heart failure (CHF), arrhythmias, post-procedural care, and pre-surgical needs.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on managing cardiac conditions, procedures, and treatments.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient responses.
- Document patient care activities and progress in accordance with hospital policies.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure a compassionate and flexible environment that prioritizes patient safety and comfort.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Indiana.
- Previous experience in a Progressive Care or Critical Care environment preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cardiac care, specifically in managing patients with advanced heart failure, pacemaker/defibrillator placement, STEMI, or arrhythmias.
- Prior experience in a high-acuity, acute care setting.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
