Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families during the perinatal period, utilizing the nursing process to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves working collaboratively with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with established standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver nursing care appropriate to the age and needs of patients, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess patient conditions, formulate individualized care plans, and implement interventions.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding the labor and delivery process, postpartum care, and newborn care.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, responding effectively to changes in condition and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive care and positive outcomes for patients.
  • Uphold the philosophy and standards established by the Nursing Service Department, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations.
  • Maintain accountability for the safety and quality of nursing care delivered or supervised.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of best practices in labor and delivery nursing.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Labor & Delivery RN.
Licensure and Certification:
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Fetal monitoring certification preferred.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong basic nursing skills with a focus on maternal and neonatal care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient assessment and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
