Under general supervision, the Surgical ICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients with complex health issues in a hospital setting.
This role requires managing patient care plans, documenting responses, administering treatments, and supporting patients and families through the care process.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee an assigned group of patients, ensuring thorough documentation of responses to treatments and interventions.
Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor procedures, providing accurate data and patient information.
Monitor and obtain physiological data, observing patients' conditions and intervening as needed.
Administer prescribed medications, initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
Communicate care plans with patients and families, ensuring understanding of hospital procedures.
Provide discharge planning and education to patients and families.
Refer patient care needs to the appropriate personnel and delegate tasks to support staff as necessary.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care and unit needs.
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Current RN License from the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
Strong knowledge of nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively support patients and collaborate with the healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a Board-approved program.
Education: Bachelors Degree
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) , Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
