Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will perform a range of tasks, including answering telephone calls, relaying messages, verifying patient demographics and insurance information, and scheduling appointments. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will perform back-office duties such as rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and reviewing patients’ medical records to assist with patient inquiries. This position provides the opportunity to work closely with a team of healthcare providers in a dynamic, patient-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming phone calls and relay messages to appropriate staff members.
- Verify patients’ demographics and insurance information during each visit.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage appointment calendars.
- Room patients and take accurate vital signs.
- Review and assist with patient inquiries related to their medical records.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist healthcare providers with any clinical or administrative tasks as needed.
- Float between different practice locations as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant diploma or certificate.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to actively listen and respond effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well with patients, healthcare providers, and staff.
- Legible handwriting and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including keyboarding, mouse movement, and data entry into an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- 6 months to 1 year of prior experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Ability to float between different practice sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Certifications:
- Medical Assistant Certification (preferred, depending on state requirements).
