The Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical unit provides high-quality nursing care to adult patients recovering from surgery or dealing with medical conditions. This role involves comprehensive patient assessments, treatment administration, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal recovery and well-being for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care to individuals in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessments, interventions, and monitoring of patient progress.
Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and therapies while monitoring patient responses.
Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and post-care instructions.
Monitor vital signs, patient conditions, and response to therapies to ensure safety.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.
Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring timely documentation of all care provided.
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control practices, and patient confidentiality standards.
Respond to emergency situations and assist with critical care procedures as needed.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain nursing competencies.
Required Qualifications:
1 year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
License, Certification, Registration:
Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field.
Certifications (if any):
BLS certification required.
Additional certifications (e.g., ACLS) are a plus.
