The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a nursing home setting is responsible for delivering high-quality care to residents by assisting with activities of daily living and ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. This role supports the nursing staff by monitoring residents’ conditions, reporting changes, and maintaining a clean and supportive environment in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Answer call lights and respond to resident needs promptly
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including toileting, transferring, bathing, grooming, and dressing
Report any changes in resident condition to the nurse
Obtain and record vital signs, weights, and other relevant health data
Ensure timely and compassionate care for all residents
Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation to the charge nurse
Perform other duties as assigned by nursing or supervisory staff
Required Qualifications
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Must hold and maintain current CNA certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Minimum 1 year of related work experience preferred
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, resident-focused environment
