The Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic radiological procedures. This role involves assessing patient needs, preparing them for procedures, monitoring during interventions, and ensuring post-procedure recovery. The RN collaborates with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care in a high-tech environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and their responsible persons
Use clinical judgment to recognize and report changes in patient condition
Promote a healthy workplace environment through professional communication and conflict management
Fulfill Core Measure responsibilities related to patient care
Participate in continuing education to maintain clinical competency
Maintain complete and accurate medical records
Required Qualifications
Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
Current CPR/BLS certification
ACLS certification
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Interventional Radiology or related specialties such as ICU, PCU, Cardiac Services, or Emergency Room
Familiarity with SDS Procedure Room, Electrocardiology, OP Cardiovascular Center, and Infusion Therapy Services
