Pathology Assistant-Technician

Job Summary  
We are seeking a detail-oriented Pathology Assistant–Technician to support the pathology department in specimen preparation, gross examination, and laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will assist pathologists in handling and processing tissue samples, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in diagnostic workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist pathologists with gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens.
  2. Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination.
  3. Perform specimen collection, labeling, and documentation according to established protocols.
  4. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper sterilization and decontamination procedures.
  5. Record and update patient and specimen information accurately in laboratory systems.
  6. Package and transport specimens while maintaining integrity and compliance with safety standards.
  7. Support quality assurance and data management activities within the pathology department.
  8. Collaborate with physicians, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate results.

Required Qualifications
  1. Associate’s degree in a related field (Biology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or equivalent).
  2. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years. .Strong knowledge of specimen handling, preparation, and laboratory safety protocols.
  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and laboratory information systems.

Preferred Qualifications (if any)
  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  2. Prior experience assisting in surgical pathology or histology.
  3. Strong organizational and communication skills.

Certifications (if any)
  1. Pathology Assistant certification (preferred but not required).
  2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred).
