The Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Per Diem) provides comprehensive nursing care to laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients. This role requires expertise in maternal and fetal assessment, emergency response, and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
Assess, monitor, and document maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to physician orders and established protocols
Collaborate with obstetricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Assist with labor management, vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and emergency obstetric procedures
Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care
Respond effectively to obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation situations
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with facility and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
Minimum one (1) year of recent full-time equivalent Labor & Delivery nursing experience within the last three (3) years
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state where care is provided
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Current AWHONN certification
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field
Five (5) or more years of recent Labor & Delivery experience (within the last two years preferred)
Minimum one (1) year of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience within the last two years
