The Registered Nurse – Pediatric StepDown provides specialized nursing care for pediatric patients transitioning from intensive care to general care. This role ensures safe monitoring, treatment, and recovery support for children with complex medical needs. The RN collaborates with physicians, families, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assess pediatric patients and monitor conditions to develop individualized care plans
Administer medications and treatments while observing patient responses
Collaborate with healthcare teams including physicians, specialists, and therapists
Educate families on patient conditions, treatment plans, and recovery instructions
Document patient care accurately in medical records and charts
Respond to emergencies and provide immediate interventions as required
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control, and regulatory standards
Support patient families with emotional guidance and information about care plans
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Minimum of 1–2 years of pediatric or stepdown unit experience
Strong clinical knowledge and patient care skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in pediatric critical care or stepdown units
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
