The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-focused medication services. This role involves assisting with prescription preparation, patient counseling support, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations. The technician plays a key role in maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and quality of outpatient pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists with prescription preparation, labeling, and dispensing
Support patient services including medication pickup and counseling support
Verify prescription information for accuracy and compliance with regulations
Manage inventory including stock levels, expiration dates, and reordering supplies
Process insurance claims and billing issues to ensure timely resolution
Maintain patient records and documentation with strict confidentiality
Support workflow efficiency in outpatient pharmacy operations
Follow safety protocols for medication handling and regulatory compliance
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
Current Pharmacy Technician certification (state requirements apply)
2 years of experience in outpatient or retail pharmacy settings
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in prescription handling
Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and data entry
Excellent communication and customer service skills
