Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Care Planning:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Develop individualized care plans for pre- and post-surgery patients.
Medical Care Administration:
- Administer and record prescribed medications.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs as required.
- Prepare patients for surgery and assist in post-operative recovery.
Equipment Management:
- Adjust and operate specialized medical equipment as needed.
- Monitor and record equipment readings, interpreting them for the medical team.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for adverse reactions to medications.
- Report any changes in patient condition to the healthcare team promptly.
Discharge Planning and Education:
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals on discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, medication schedules, and post-operative care.
Documentation:
- Maintain and update patient records, including medical charts and health history.
- Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of care and observations.
Compliance:
- Adhere to best practices, nursing standards, and established protocols.
Job Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in a relevant nursing role, preferably in surgical or critical care settings.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid and current state nursing license.
Skills and Qualities:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments and respond swiftly to emergencies.
- Excellent communication skills for patient and family education.
- Proficiency in using medical equipment and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) may be advantageous.
- Prior experience in operating room (OR) or post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) nursing.
Note: Travel Experience Required.
Education: Associate's Degree
