JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. Working under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), the Surgical Technologist ensures surgeons and the surgical team have everything they need for successful procedures.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist the RN and surgical team with limited direct patient care.
• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
• Ensure a sterile field is properly set up, maintained, and protected throughout the procedure.
• Clean, prepare, and package instruments for disinfection and sterilization.
• Assist with room turnover between cases, including cleaning and preparing the environment for the next patient.
• Uphold patient safety standards and maintain required clinical competencies based on scope and training.
• Adhere to AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate responsibility in time management, resource use, and supply handling.
• Participate as a collaborative and supportive team member.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Certifications
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.

Experience
• Experience in an operating room setting is required.

Skills
• Proficiency in sterile technique.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments and their uses.
• Ability to anticipate surgeon and team needs.
