JOB SUMMARY
The Endoscopy Technician provides essential support during endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety, equipment readiness, and procedural efficiency. This role involves preparing the procedure environment, assisting the medical team, and maintaining endoscopic equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Sterilize and prepare rooms and endoscopic equipment (e.g., scopes) before and after procedures.
- Assist physicians and registered nurses with endoscopic procedures as directed.
- Perform safety checks and verify proper functioning of all equipment.
- Maintain and/or repair endoscopic equipment.
- Collect and deliver specimens collected during procedures while maintaining a sterile field.
- Assist with patient intake, transport, paperwork, and recordkeeping of physician observations.
- Apply patient monitoring devices, including blood pressure cuffs, surgical cautery pads, cardiac monitoring electrodes, pulse oximeter sensors, and nasal cannulas.
- Share information about equipment or instruments during in-service training sessions.
- Actively participate in in-service trainings to refresh and validate basic professional skills.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Experience
- Six (6) months of Endoscopy Technician experience OR
- Associates degree in Medical Assisting or Surgical Technology; OR
- Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Skills
- Proficient in preparing and sterilizing endoscopic equipment.
- Ability to assist medical professionals during procedures.
- Skilled in equipment maintenance and basic repair.
- Competent in patient monitoring device application.
- Strong understanding of sterile techniques.
