Registered Nurse - Wound Care

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Wound Care is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating wound care treatment plans for patients with acute, chronic, and complex wounds. The RN collaborates with physicians, multidisciplinary healthcare teams, patients, and families to promote healing, prevent complications, and ensure high-quality patient care. This role also provides education on wound prevention, treatment, and skin integrity management.

Key Responsibilities
Assess, monitor, and document wound conditions and patient progress.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized wound care treatment plans.
Perform wound care procedures, including dressing changes, debridement support, and other prescribed treatments within scope of practice.
Identify and manage risks related to pressure injuries, skin breakdown, and impaired wound healing.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on wound care management, prevention strategies, and treatment plans.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Monitor infection control practices and promote patient safety standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care and skin integrity.
Serve as a clinical resource for wound care best practices and evidence-based treatment approaches.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
Minimum of one (1) year of recent nursing experience.
Knowledge of wound assessment, treatment modalities, and skin integrity management.
Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) or more years of wound care nursing experience.
Experience in acute care, long-term care, rehabilitation, outpatient wound clinic, or home health settings.
Knowledge of advanced wound care therapies and pressure injury prevention programs.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Wound Care Certification (WCC), Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON), or equivalent certification preferred.
