JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who provides and coordinates patient care specific to the age and needs of the patient population served on assigned units. This role ensures the delivery of quality, efficient, and safe patient care in accordance with established standards of care and organizational objectives. The Registered Nurse demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Obtains and records initial patient assessments, establishing priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Routinely re-assesses patients to identify progress and identify trends that require intervention.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates a measurable, individualized plan of care for each patient, modifying as necessary based on patient outcomes.
• Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of facts and evaluation of patient outcomes.
• Participates in patient and significant other health education and discharge planning.
• Implements and documents timely nursing interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Performs various Point of Care testing procedures.
• Utilizes effective communication strategies to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Delegates unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of essential patient care support activities.
• Coordinates team assignments and adjusts based on patient and unit needs, ensuring quality and completeness of delegated tasks.
• Utilizes the appropriate chain of command for issue resolution.
• Participates in the orientation of new staff and students.
• Functions as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff.
• Promotes a positive work environment through professional and supportive interaction.
• Collaborates to achieve unit and organizational goals.
• Exhibits behaviors that create a high level of patient satisfaction and positive patient relations.
• Demonstrates effective communication and human relations skills to promote harmony and teamwork.

• Assists with special projects as assigned.
• Accurately interprets and communicates Human Resources Policies and Procedures.

Schedule / Shift
NIGHTS 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Required Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Current RN License in the state of employment or a compact state license.
• BLS certification from AHA required.
• Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served.
• Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients’ rights in the delivery of care.
• Communicates in a clear, concise manner appropriate to the developmental age of the patient.

Certifications
• BLS Certification (AHA)

Experience
• General Medical/Surgical experience required.

Skills
• Strong clinical assessment skills.
• Effective patient education and discharge planning abilities.
• Proficiency in nursing intervention and evaluation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Team collaboration and delegation abilities.
• Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic healthcare setting.

• Adult Medical/Surgical patients.

Unit / Specialty
• Medical / Surgical

Floating / On-Call
• Will float to all Med/Surg departments as needed.
• Weekend rotation is required, with 2 to 4 shifts per month, rotated among staff.
• On-call is not required but may be requested if census rises.

• 1:5-6
