JOB SUMMARY
Provides occupational therapy services to patients to help them develop or regain physical or mental functioning, adjust to disabilities, and promote maximum independence.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results to determine occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Implement programs involving manual arts and crafts, functional skills, activities of daily living, and sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities.
- Select and construct therapies according to individual capacity, intelligence level, and interest to promote maximum independence.
- Prepare patients for return to employment by consulting with employers and addressing potential difficulties or necessary accommodations.
- Evaluate the results of occupational therapy and make adjustments and modifications to the treatment plan.
- Complete discharge planning in consultation with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare workers.
- Design and instruct patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs and recommend assistive equipment or follow-up programs.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect hospital operations.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols to protect patients and employees.
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education and participation in professional activities.
- Develop occupational therapy staff by providing information and conducting in-service training programs.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements and advise management on needed actions.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Job Relationships
- Responsible to the Rehabilitation Services Director.
- Works closely with the Rehabilitation Services Manager and related clinical departments.
- Supervises Rehab Aides.

Required Qualifications
- Possession of an Occupational Therapy License issued by the state of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
- Possession of a valid registration certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences, learning and motivation, psychological research methods, and assessment/treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including needs assessment, quality standards, and satisfaction evaluation.
- Knowledge of the English language, including meaning, spelling, composition rules, and grammar.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction.
- BLS required.
