EEG Technologist

JOB SUMMARY
Conducts electroencephalograms (EEGs) and other neurophysiological tests to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. Operates specialized equipment to record electrical activity of the brain.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine EEGs on adult and pediatric patients.
- Apply electrodes to the scalp using appropriate conductive paste and techniques.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety during testing.
- Record and review EEG tracings for technical quality and any significant abnormalities.
- Document patient information, test results, and any relevant clinical observations.
- Maintain and sterilize EEG equipment and supplies.
- Educate patients and families about the EEG procedure.
- Perform evoked potentials and other neurophysiological tests as required.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Schedule / Shift
- Typically operates on a standard daytime schedule, which may include on-call duties or rotating shifts depending on facility needs.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an accredited EEG technology program or equivalent training.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience
- Previous experience as an EEG Tech is preferred.

Skills
- Proficient in the operation of EEG equipment.
- Knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.

EMR / Systems
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems is beneficial.
