JOB SUMMARY
The Monitor Technician will be responsible for continuously monitoring cardiac rhythms of patients across multiple facilities, ensuring timely and accurate interpretation and documentation. This role involves utilizing a centralized monitoring system to detect and report any significant changes in patient condition, contributing to the overall quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor and analyze cardiac rhythms of patients through a centralized monitoring system.
- Identify and report any significant changes in patient cardiac rhythms or vital signs to appropriate clinical staff.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of cardiac events, patient status, and communications.
- Utilize the GE Carescape system for patient monitoring, adding/discharging patients, and building end-of-shift reports.
- Respond promptly to alarms and critical events, providing necessary information to floor staff.
- Communicate effectively with floor staff via desktop phone and iPhone application.
- Maintain a running call log of all critical events and communications.
- Perform virtual sitter duties as needed, cross-trained on GE Carescape and Cerner Patient Observer.
- Ensure a calm and professional demeanor during stressful situations.
- Adapt to a high-volume monitoring environment.
Schedule / Shift
- 12-hour shifts: 06:45 AM - 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM.
- Unit huddle begins at 06:53 AM and 18:53 PM.
- Requires 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period.
- Requires 2 on-call shifts per 6-week period.
Required Qualifications
- Must be telemetry competent.
- Ability to pass a basic cardiac rhythm test.
- Ability to analyze and interpret heart rhythms.
- Good attendance record.
- Ability to write and understand English.
- Proficient typing skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of iPhone operation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel experience working in remote monitoring.
- CNA background.
- Cardiac nursing background.
- Medical terminology background.
- Previous GE monitoring experience.
Certifications
- ECG-Board Certified (Preferred)
Experience
- Previous travel experience working in remote monitoring is highly preferred.
