JOB SUMMARY
Registered Nurses in Progressive Care units provide care for patients who are not critically ill but require a higher level of monitoring and intervention than typically found on a general medical-surgical unit. These patients often have complex conditions, such as advanced heart disease, respiratory failure, or post-surgical complications, necessitating close observation, frequent assessments, and specialized treatments.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, and other physiological parameters.
- Respond to changes in patient condition and intervene appropriately.
- Educate patients and families about health conditions and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Document patient care activities accurately and comprehensively.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient environment.

Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.

Experience
- Prior experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
- Experience in a progressive care setting is preferred.

Skills
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and interpretation.
- Ability to manage complex patient care needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competency in electronic health record (EHR) charting.

EMR / Systems
Ability to document using various EHR systems.

Patient Population
Adult patients requiring intermediate care.

Unit / Specialty
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry

Floating / On-Call
May be required to float to other similar units as needed. On-call responsibilities may vary per facility policy.

Education: Bachelors Degree
