JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct patient care within the Operating Room environment, assisting surgeons and surgical teams during operative procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and sterile.
- Assist the surgical team by anticipating needs and providing requested instruments, sutures, and supplies during surgery.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
- Handle specimens and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
- Participate in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care activities.
- Adhere to all safety, infection control, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Clean and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
Schedule / Shift
Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Call: Required for nights and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of current acute care hospital Operating Room experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Active and current DORA and NBSTSA certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a large facility setting.
- Prior travel experience.
- Experience with robotics.
- Prior Meditech EMR experience.
Certifications
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Assisting) Certification
- DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) License
Experience
- 1+ years of current acute care hospital CST experience.
Skills
- Proficient in assisting with a variety of surgical procedures.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
