JOB TITLE: ORT - Operating Room - Menino OR

JOB SUMMARY
The Operating Room Technician (ORT) plays a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care within the surgical services department. This position requires proficiency in assisting surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, ensuring a sterile environment, and maintaining readiness of the operating room.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and the surgical team during operative and invasive procedures.
- Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile equipment and supplies.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and provide instruments and supplies as requested.
- Monitor and manage surgical supplies and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to infection control standards and safety protocols.
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation for surgery.
- Perform post-operative duties, including room cleanup and equipment sterilization.
- Document patient care activities as required.

Schedule / Shift
- 12-hour shifts with start times of 9:00 AM or 11:00 AM.
- 36 hours per week.
- Rotation includes every 3rd weekend as needed.
- Rotation includes every other holiday.
- On-call: 1 rotation per schedule.

Required Qualifications
- Must possess a positive attitude, flexibility, and excellent communication skills.
- Must be competent in at least 5 of the listed surgical services.

Experience
- 3+ years of inpatient surgery experience required.
- Level 1 trauma experience required.
- Must have trauma experience.

Certifications
- NBSTSA certification is mandatory; no other certification is accepted.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Unit / Specialty
- Surgical Services department encompassing general surgery, gynecology, genitourinary, oral surgery, otolaryngology, bariatric surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry, robotics, pediatric surgery, trauma surgery, and spine surgery.
- Number of operating rooms: 22.
- OR is staffed 24/7.

Floating / On-Call
- May be required to float to other OR campuses, including Moakley, if needed.
- On-call requirements are 1 rotation per schedule.
