JOB SUMMARY
Speech Therapist responsible for providing comprehensive speech and language pathology services to patients in an acute care and rehabilitation setting. This role requires independent assessment and treatment, with a focus on Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS).

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in speech-language pathology.
- Conduct independent and proficient Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) in radiology without radiologist supervision.
- Perform patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Implement therapeutic interventions to address speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
- Document patient progress and care in compliance with facility standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment and home care.
- Potentially manage outpatient referrals.

Schedule / Shift
- Generally a set schedule of 5 days per week.
- Likely to include one weekend day.

Required Qualifications
- Must be able to complete MBS studies independently.
- Experience in acute care settings.
- Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Rehab hospital settings is preferred.

Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech Therapist.
- Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) is required.
- Experience in SNF or Rehab hospital settings is preferred.

Skills
- Proficient in conducting Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) independently.
- Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills in speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.

EMR / Systems
- Meditech for inpatient computerized documentation.
- Paper and pencil for outpatient documentation.
- Training in EMR documentation will be provided.

Patient Population
- Patients requiring rehabilitation services.
- Patients undergoing diagnostic procedures such as MBS.
- Possibility of outpatient referrals.

Unit / Specialty
- Inpatient Rehabilitation
- Radiology (for MBS)

Floating / On-Call
- Possible floating to another facility depending on census and staffing.

Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- HI Rehab Licensure in the appropriate discipline

Education: Masters Degree
