JOB SUMMARY
The Activities Coordinator is primarily responsible for directing an activity program to meet the social, recreational, physical, educational, and spiritual needs of patients/residents. This role aims to enable patients/residents to function and maintain their dignity and fullest mental and physical capacity, while enhancing their feelings of usefulness, self-confidence, self-respect, and empowerment. Key responsibilities include assessment, program development, performance improvement, budget development/monitoring, and personnel management.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and develop comprehensive activity programs to meet diverse patient/resident needs.
- Conduct assessments to identify individual patient/resident social, recreational, physical, educational, and spiritual needs.
- Plan and implement meaningful activities designed to enhance patient/resident well-being and independence.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activity programs, making adjustments as necessary.
- Contribute to performance improvement initiatives related to patient/resident care and activity programming.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Supervise and direct the work of subordinate staff.
- Plan and conduct training programs for staff.
- Ensure adherence to administrative practices and procedures in directing patient/resident activity programs.
- Maintain effective communication with patients/residents, families, and staff.
Schedule / Shift
May be required to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) years of work experience as an Activities Coordinator involved in the planning, assessing, and coordinating of a comprehensive Activity Program.
- Experience with human anatomy.
- Experience with administrative practices and procedures in directing patient/resident activity programs and treatment procedures in a hospital or other medically oriented institution or program.
- Experience with budget preparation.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to supervise and direct the work of subordinates.
- Ability to plan and conduct training programs.
- MUST HAVE MDS experience.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers.
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience as an Activities Coordinator.
- Experience in planning, assessing, and coordinating comprehensive Activity Programs.
- Experience in a hospital or other medically oriented institution or program.
- Experience with budget preparation.
- Experience with MDS is required.
