JOB TITLE: Echo Tech - Radiology
JOB SUMMARY:
The Echo Tech is responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic echocardiographic examinations to assess cardiac function and structure. This role requires independent completion of echocardiograms, knowledge of cardiac anatomy and disease processes, and proficient use of ultrasound equipment. The Echo Tech will also be responsible for accurate documentation and adherence to unit policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complete echocardiograms independently, including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE).
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, including Philips IE33 and Epiq CVX.
- Accurately document findings in the patient's medical record using Meditech.
- Assess cardiac anatomy and identify potential abnormalities or disease processes.
- Follow established protocols and guidelines for echocardiographic procedures.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during examinations.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Adhere to all unit-specific and hospital policies, including floating and attendance guidelines.
Schedule / Shift:
- Days
- 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- 13-week assignment
- Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend work may be discussed during the interview.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of hospital experience as an Echo Sonographer.
- Demonstrated ability to complete echocardiograms independently.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and disease processes.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ARDMS certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiography).
- Experience with Stress Echocardiograms.
- Experience with Vascular ultrasound procedures.
- Prior experience with the Meditech EMR/documentation system.
Certifications:
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) or RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) is required.
Experience:
- 2+ years of hospital experience.
Skills:
- Proficiency in performing complete echocardiograms.
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and pathology.
- Skilled in operating Philips IE33 and Epiq CVX ultrasound equipment.
- Familiarity with documentation systems, preferably Meditech.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Non-Invasive Cardiology
Patient Population:
- Adult cardiac patients.
Floating / On-Call:
- Required to float to other units as needed.
- On-Call duties are required.
- Weekend call requirements to be discussed during the interview.
Unit Specifics:
- Performs 75-80 echocardiograms per day, with a majority being portable.
- Scrub Color: Sage tops, Black bottoms.
- Adherence to professional appearance standards regarding nails, hair, beards, tattoos, and piercings.
