The Registered Nurse – Circulator provides perioperative nursing care by coordinating patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role ensures patient safety, supports the surgical team, and maintains compliance with clinical standards and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including assessment and documentation.
Coordinate surgical team activities to ensure smooth workflow in the operating room.
Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative process.
Ensure sterile environment and adherence to infection control protocols.
Manage surgical supplies and equipment needed for procedures.
Document care accurately in patient records.Communicate with patients and families regarding surgical procedures and recovery expectations.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in perioperative or surgical care.
Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Prior experience as a circulator nurse in operating room settings.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification is a plus.
