Job Summary:
A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) plays a crucial role in supporting the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist. PTAs work with patients of all ages who may have various conditions, injuries, or disabilities, and their goal is to help patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and improve their overall physical function.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment: Assist in conducting patient evaluations to gather information about a patient's medical history, physical condition, and functional limitations.
Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the supervising Physical Therapist to develop individualized treatment plans and goals for patients.
Treatment Implementation: Administer therapeutic exercises, modalities, and manual techniques as prescribed by the Physical Therapist. Monitor and document patient progress during treatment sessions.

Educate Patients:
Provide patient education on exercises, activities, and strategies to improve mobility and prevent injury. Teach patients proper techniques for using assistive devices, if necessary.
Assistive Devices: Help patients with the selection and fitting of assistive devices, such as crutches or wheelchairs, and instruct them on their safe and effective use.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including progress notes and treatment reports. Document any changes in a patient's condition.
Communication: Collaborate with the supervising Physical Therapist and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care. Communicate with patients and their families regarding treatment plans and progress.
Rehabilitation Support: Assist patients in various rehabilitation settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, and home health care.
Safety and Infection Control: Adhere to safety and infection control protocols to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
Continuing Education: Stay updated on the latest developments in physical therapy by participating in continuing education and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
State licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Physical fitness and the ability to perform physical tasks as required in the job, including lifting and assisting patients.
