Phlebotomist - I

Position Details:
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate.
  • Update patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Fully understand all physicians' orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport.
  • Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow specific procedures for transport to maintain specimen integrity.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Phlebotomist.
  • Proficient in using straight and butterfly needles, and handling color tubes.
  • At least 2 years of experience with blood draws and venipunctures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
