The Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) plays a crucial role in providing surgical assistance and direct patient care during operative and invasive procedures.
This role involves collaborating with the surgical team, ensuring patient safety, and offering skilled nursing support in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the surgical team by performing specialized nursing tasks in the operating room.
Support surgeons with procedures by preparing and managing surgical equipment and ensuring the sterile field is maintained.
Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient outcomes related to surgical intervention.
Coordinate and assist with patient positioning, wound exposure, hemostasis, and suturing during surgeries.
Perform other nursing tasks as needed, including floating to different units within the scope of skillset.
Participate in an on-call rotation and work every other weekend as required.
Required Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Previous experience in perioperative or surgical nursing.
Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working as a Registered Nurse First Assist.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a surgical team.
