The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is responsible for providing critical care to pediatric patients with complex and life-threatening conditions. The RN will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, compassionate care while monitoring and supporting patients’ physical and emotional needs in this fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Provide intensive care nursing to pediatric patients, including continuous monitoring, medication administration, and performing necessary interventions.
Critical Care Skills: Utilize advanced nursing skills to manage complex medical conditions in critically ill children.
Collaboration: Work closely with pediatric specialists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for each patient.
Family Support: Provide emotional support and education to families regarding their child’s care, progress, and treatment plans.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly and appropriately to pediatric emergencies and code situations, using Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) protocols.
Required Qualifications:
1 year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in pediatric nursing
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state where care is provided
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) Certification
Preferred Qualifications (if any):
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field
