The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the cardiology clinic, focusing on high-quality patient care and effective clinical workflow.
Key responsibilities include patient preparation, basic diagnostic procedures, and assisting in maintaining a clean, efficient, and patient-centered environment.
This role requires excellent communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to ensuring a seamless patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively assist with patient care by rooming patients, measuring and recording vital signs, performing EKGs, and documenting information in EPIC.
Support clinical flow by keeping providers and front desk staff informed of workflow changes and patient needs.
Use the Ambulatory Patient Tracking system accurately and ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked.
Maintain clinical equipment, including calibrating scales monthly and performing daily EKG machine checks; contact Bio-Med for repairs as needed.
Assist in other areas of the cardiology department as necessary to cover staffing shortages.
Engage patients courteously and professionally, promoting a positive clinic environment.
Required Qualifications:
Phlebotomy and EKG experience.
Proficiency with EPIC and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong interpersonal skills, service-oriented attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Certified Medical Assistant (MA) certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
EKG certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and improve clinical processes.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
