Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Patient Admitting Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is essential for ensuring a smooth and efficient patient intake process. 
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in admitting roles or insurance-related positions within healthcare settings, with proficiency in medical terminology and payment processing. 
The Patient Admitting Specialist will help ensure compliance with federal regulations and hospital procedures while providing excellent customer service to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Intake: Greet and assist patients during the admissions process, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance information and assist with pre-certification processes as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to hospital-based federal rules, regulations, and policies related to patient admissions.
  • Payment Processing: Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and other financial responsibilities.
  • Software Utilization: Use hospital software tools (such as EMR and billing systems) to input and update patient data.
  • Customer Service: Provide compassionate support to patients and families, addressing any questions or concerns regarding their admission.
  • Safety Practices: Adhere to safety standards and protocols in healthcare settings to ensure patient and staff well-being.

Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience in admitting roles, insurance verification, or related positions within a healthcare environment.
  • Proficient in medical terminology, insurance processes, and healthcare regulations.
  • Competent in using office software tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with hospital-based patient management systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, etc.) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with federal healthcare regulations and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, Medicare).
  • Bilingual candidates may be preferred, depending on the location.
