The MRI Technologist is responsible for operating MRI imaging equipment while providing excellent care for patients of all ages and backgrounds. This role requires expertise in taking patient medical histories, positioning patients according to established protocols, and producing high-quality images for diagnostic purposes. The MRI Technologist also ensures that all imaging data is accurately recorded and meets the requirements of the ordering healthcare provider.
Key Responsibilities:
Take detailed patient medical histories to ensure appropriate imaging procedures.
Answer patient questions and explain the MRI procedure to alleviate any concerns.
Position patients correctly according to established protocols for optimal imaging results.
Adjust MRI equipment as necessary to ensure high-quality images are produced.
Evaluate MRI images to verify they meet the specifications outlined by the ordering healthcare provider.
Enter patient data and imaging results into electronic medical records.
Ensure patient safety and comfort during the MRI procedure, especially for patients with special needs or anxiety.
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the MRI equipment and imaging area.
Follow proper infection control and safety protocols.
Communicate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate diagnosis and follow-up care.
Assist with troubleshooting and maintaining MRI equipment as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Experience with GE MRI equipment (1.5T software: HD23.0_1614B).
Strong knowledge of MRI protocols and imaging techniques.
Ability to position patients effectively and safely.
Excellent communication skills, especially in interacting with patients to explain procedures.
Ability to evaluate images for quality and diagnostic accuracy.
Proficiency in entering data into electronic medical records systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Epic or Synapse imaging systems.
Certification or training in MRI technology is preferred.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited MRI technology program or equivalent.
