CT Technologist

Job Summary:
The CT Technologist is responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) procedures and producing diagnostic scans for interpretation. This role includes operating CT equipment, selecting appropriate technical factors, and ensuring the proper identification of images. The technologist also provides radiation protection, maintains patient data integrity, and assists with various diagnostic procedures such as biopsies, CT Angiograms, and cardiac CT.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of computed tomography (CT) examinations, including assisting radiologists with biopsies, cardiac CT, CT Angiograms, and post-processing of images.
  • Produce high-quality CT scans for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Operate CT equipment, adjusting technical factors to optimize image quality.
  • Ensure correct identification and demographic information is attached to each image.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all related data.
  • Provide radiation protection for patients, families, staff, and the general public.
  • Identify, process, transfer, and archive patient exams, including records, images, and patient demographics.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of radiology information systems.
  • Resolve complex technical issues and escalate as necessary.
  • Train and orient new staff technologists.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and in-service presentations.
  • Be available for on-call status, including weekends and holidays, and work other shifts as assigned.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a CT Technologist.
  • Pediatric experience required.
  • Proficiency in using the EPIC system.
  • Experience with Siemens CT equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of computed tomography imaging.
  • Basic understanding of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Working knowledge of Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional certifications or experience in specialized imaging techniques (such as cardiac CT or CT Angiograms) are a plus.

Certifications:
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an organization that requires hands-on instructor-led skills verification (e.g., American Heart Association or Red Cross) is required.
  • Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is required.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical Diploma from a Radiology Program is required.
