The Registered Nurse - ICU provides specialized care for patients with life-threatening conditions requiring advanced organ support and invasive monitoring.
Working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment, the ICU RN will care for critically ill patients, including those with post-surgical needs, trauma, overdose, and chronic illnesses.
This role demands strong clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and quick decision-making skills.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver critical care to patients with complex, life-threatening conditions, adhering to ICU protocols.
Perform invasive monitoring and manage sophisticated organ support systems.
Care for diverse patient cases, including trauma, post-surgery, overdose, and chronic illness.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
Utilize computer charting systems, including EPIC and Meditech, for accurate patient documentation.
Required Qualifications
Active Indiana or compact RN license
Minimum of 2 years of current ICU experience, preferably in a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) setting
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with NIH stroke certification
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Additional Information
Patient ratio: 1:2, though ratios may vary with census and staffing levels.
Bi-weekly orientation; start date as specified in the job order.
Resource must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to qualify.
