The RN - PACU is responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort for individuals recovering from anesthesia. This role involves monitoring patients' vital signs, providing education and reassurance to patients and their families, and delivering high-quality nursing care in accordance with established protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure patient safety and comfort during the recovery phase from anesthesia.
Monitor patients' level of consciousness and vital signs closely.
Provide reassurance and education to patients and their family members regarding post-operative care.
Assess patients and deliver care, particularly to those who are ventilator-dependent; monitor and care for surgical dressings.
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
Follow Infection Control protocols, Standard Precautions, and OSHA standards applicable to healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
License/Certification:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse with an active license in the state(s) of employment.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of current experience within the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit is preferred.
