Operating Room / Perioperative Nurses provide essential surgical patient care by assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care for patients before, during, and after surgery. This role includes serving as a patient educator, circulating nurse, and/or scrub nurse. Circulating nurses work within the operating suite but outside of the sterile field, while scrub nurses handle and prepare operating instruments and equipment within the sterile field.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for surgical patients throughout all phases of surgery.
Serve as a patient educator, providing information and support to patients and their families.
Function as a circulating nurse, managing the overall environment of the operating room.
Prepare and handle operating instruments and equipment as a scrub nurse within the sterile field.
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and effective surgical outcomes.
Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all surgical protocols and guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
24 months of recent experience in an Acute Care Surgery setting.
Active RN License.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional requirements as determined by the client facility.
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification.
Education:
Degree from an accredited nursing program.
