We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract position in Watertown, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient information verification, specimen collection, and lab documentation. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, performing pediatric and adult blood draws, and preparing specimens for processing and send-out.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify patient information prior to specimen collection to ensure accuracy.
Set up the station and prepare necessary tools for phlebotomy procedures.
Label tubes accurately for patient identification.
Draw blood from pediatric patients and adults, including some infants (training provided for infant blood draws).
Prepare specimens for send-out to the appropriate labs.
Document patient information, procedures, and results in the EPIC system.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control procedures.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, ensuring comfort and professionalism during the phlebotomy process.
Required Qualifications:
Experience as a Phlebotomist or in a similar role.
Knowledge of proper phlebotomy techniques, including pediatric and infant draws (training will be provided for infants).
Familiarity with EPIC or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for patient documentation.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any):
Certification in phlebotomy (e.g., ASCP or similar certification).
Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
