Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract position in Watertown, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient information verification, specimen collection, and lab documentation. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, performing pediatric and adult blood draws, and preparing specimens for processing and send-out.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient information prior to specimen collection to ensure accuracy.
- Set up the station and prepare necessary tools for phlebotomy procedures.
- Label tubes accurately for patient identification.
- Draw blood from pediatric patients and adults, including some infants (training provided for infant blood draws).
- Prepare specimens for send-out to the appropriate labs.
- Document patient information, procedures, and results in the EPIC system.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, ensuring comfort and professionalism during the phlebotomy process.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience as a Phlebotomist or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of proper phlebotomy techniques, including pediatric and infant draws (training will be provided for infants).
- Familiarity with EPIC or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for patient documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any):
- Certification in phlebotomy (e.g., ASCP or similar certification).
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
Shift:
- Monday through Friday: 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Certification: Basic Life Support
