The Registered Nurse - Radiology plays a vital role in ensuring quality patient care during radiology procedures.
This position involves collaborating with the medical team, preparing patients, administering necessary medications, monitoring patient conditions, and providing support throughout the diagnostic process.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a liaison between patients and the medical team.
Prepare patients for procedures and ensure they are comfortable.
Start intravenous fluids for administering special dyes or contrast mediums.
Administer barium enemas or solutions as required before procedures.
Monitor patients' vital signs during procedures to identify changes.
Identify and address unexpected reactions in patients during procedures.
Administer analgesia and sedatives as instructed by the medical team.
Update the medical staff on patient status and condition.
Operate radiology machines and monitor their functions to ensure accurate results.
Interpret diagnostic images to assist in patient diagnosis.
Reassess patients after procedures and provide care until discharge.
Manage patient discharge and attend follow-up visits.
Required Qualifications
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Proven experience in a radiology or diagnostic imaging setting.
Strong understanding of radiology procedures and patient care protocols.
Proficiency in operating radiology equipment and interpreting diagnostic images.
Excellent communication and patient care skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced certification in radiology nursing.
Experience with sedation and analgesia administration.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
