The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for performing blood collection procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients, and maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy in all tasks. This role requires at least 1 year of experience in phlebotomy and involves working closely with patients and medical staff to provide essential diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform blood collection procedures, including venipuncture and capillary puncture, in a safe and accurate manner.
Ensure patient comfort and maintain a professional, compassionate demeanor during blood collection.
Label and process specimens accurately, following proper protocols to avoid errors.
Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure proper storage of collected specimens.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and infection control procedures.
Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns they may have.
Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection and processing.
Maintain records of patient information and procedures performed as required.
Follow all regulatory and organizational guidelines to maintain high standards of care.
Required Qualifications:
At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
Phlebotomy Technician License (as required by state regulations).
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications:
