The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients recovering from anesthesia. The RN will monitor the patient's vital signs and level of consciousness, provide reassurance and education to both patients and their family members, assess patient conditions, deliver care to ventilator-dependent patients, and ensure dressings are properly maintained. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, patient care expertise, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure patient safety and comfort for individuals recovering from anesthesia.
Continuously monitor patients' level of consciousness, vital signs, and overall condition.
Provide reassurance, education, and emotional support to patients and family members.
Perform patient assessments and deliver appropriate care to ventilator-dependent patients.
Monitor dressings and ensure proper wound care.
Demonstrate one or more years of current experience within the Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain the strict confidentiality of patient information.
Adhere to Infection Control, Standard Precautions, and OSHA standards for healthcare professionals.
Required Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Licensure: Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or similar critical care setting.
Strong understanding of patient monitoring, anesthesia recovery protocols, and care for ventilator-dependent patients.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (preferred).
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (preferred, if applicable).
Experience with pain management and post-anesthesia nursing care (preferred).
Certifications
