We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pediatric Psychiatry. This inpatient unit provides 24-hour care to children and adolescents aged 4 to 18 years who require psychiatric hospitalization. The RN will play a vital role in delivering trauma-informed, patient-centered care within a nurturing and non-coercive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Assist healthcare providers in delivering comprehensive care to pediatric psychiatric patients, including preparing examination rooms, taking vital signs, and documenting patient histories.
Behavioral Management: Utilize trauma-informed approaches to de-escalate patients verbally and manage behavioral challenges effectively.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely patient records using the EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Patient and Family Support: Provide compassionate support and clear communication to patients and their families, ensuring understanding of treatment plans and progress.
Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including HIPAA.
Floating: Be willing to float to other behavioral health areas within the Epstein Units and the Acute Mental Health Unit (AMHU) as needed.
Shifts: Be available for rotating shifts, with up to 20% rotation for day positions. Night positions do not require rotating shifts.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of two years of nursing experience at one location/hospital, with a focus on pediatric psychiatry preferred.
Licensure: Active Registered Nurse license in the state.
Certifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills:
Proficiency in trauma-informed care and verbal de-escalation techniques.
Ability to work effectively with pediatric patients aged 4 to 18.
Familiarity with the EPIC EHR system for documentation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility to float to other units as required.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including potential weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience: Experience working in a pediatric psychiatric inpatient setting.
