Job Summary:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed. Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care competently.
- Interact with family and patient in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at the time of discharge.
- Inform patient and family of hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 1 year of experience.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Some computer skills.
Required Education:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS (American Heart Association).
Education: Bachelors Degree
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) , Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
